Earl Dennis Gourley Jr.

     Earl Dennis Gourley, Jr., 82, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at his home in Kanopolis. He was born July 27, 1934 in Ellsworth to Earl Sr. and Albina (Soukup) Gourley.
Earl was a lifetime resident of the Ellsworth/Kanopolis area where he worked 17 years as the director of the Ellsworth County Noxious Weed Department and was a member of the St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Kanopolis. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
     Earl married Evelyn Naegele Dec. 25, 1956 in Lincoln. They were married for nearly 60 years. She survives him.
     Earl is also survived by his son, Cris (Margaret) of Ellsworth; daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Bunch of LaCrosse and Angela (Randy) Bunch of Kanopolis; grandchildren, Craig, Brian (Kayla), and Cristopher (Jenna) Gourley, and Dylan, Zachary, and Taylor Bunch; great-grandchildren, Clay and Aaliyah Gourley; sister, Velma Kidd (Jerry) of Kansas City, Mo.; and special friends Kimbree and Anthony Hopkins and their daughter. Ellie.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee; and grandson, Scott Bunch.
     Visitation is from 1-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m.
     A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
     Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at the funeral home with burial following in Kanopolis Cemetery.
