Ellsworth has a new police chief

In 2007, as an employee of the Great Bend Police Department, Emil Halfhill responded to a life and death situation that a year later earned him the Gold Valor Award, the highest recognition a living Kansas law enforcement officer can receive. Monday night, members of the Ellsworth City Council approved the appointment of Halfhill, 32, as the town’s new police chief. He currently serves as Chapman police chief.
