Veteran honored during trip to Ellsworth Legion

When 79-year-old veteran and former Ellsworth resident Orville E. Stroh and his son, James, left Orville’s home in Lyons Dec. 22 for Ellsworth, Orville thought he was attending the monthly meeting of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174 — something he had done regularly for many years. But thanks to a little planning by James and the Ellsworth American Legion family, the gathering was much more special — it was a surprise celebration of Orville’s life.
