County avoids costly trial

Alberto J. Garcia y Tapia, 35, St. John, pleaded guilty in Ellsworth County District Court Jan. 5 to one count of felony flee and allude and one count of felony driving under the influence in a case stemming from a Sept. 15 confrontation with law enforcement on K-156 Highway between Ellsworth and Holyrood. A third count, felony aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, was dismissed by the state.
