With the upcoming political trifecta (GOP control of the White House, the U.S. Senate, and the U.S. House of Representatives) along with one of the most regressive tax proposals in years, readers can expect to read much along the following line in the coming months: “In 2014, the top 400 U.S. taxpayers based on Adjusted Gross Income earned $127 billion collectively, and they paid $29.4 billion collectively in federal income taxes at an average tax rate of 23.13 percent.
