Local authorities and weather watchers ramped up alerts Thursday and Friday about the potential danger of a slow-moving winter storm coming into Kansas from the south. The warnings were enough to boost business at grocery stores and other businesses with ice melt and other winter storm supplies to sell as residents prepared for a weekend of heavy ice.
