City of Holyrood Ordinance to Amend Elections

ORDINANCE NO. 601
BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHARTER
ORDINANCE NO. 9 RELATING TO ELECTIONS
OF THE CITY OF HOLYROOD, KANSAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF HOLYROOD, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. That a new Section 9 be added to Charter Ordinance No. 9 stating the following:
“Section 9 – All elections for the City of Holyrood, Kansas shall be nonpartisan.”
SECTION 2. That a new Section 10 be added to Charter Ordinance No. 9 stating the following:
“Section 10 - Any person desiring to become a candidate for city office elected at large shall file with the county election officer, before the filing deadline, established in K.S.A. 25–205, and amendments thereto, a declaration of candidacy on a form furnished by the county election officer as specified by the secretary of state. The nomination petition must be signed by 25 of the qualified electors of the City of Holyrood.
SECTION 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances conflicting with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby expressly repealed.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage by the Governing Body of the City of Holyrood and publication in the official city newspaper.
