Lady Bearcats upset Lakin in regionals

RUSSELL — The Lady ‘Cats came back from an eight-run deficit Monday to win the first game of the 3A Russell regional softball tournament 17-12 and send the Lady Broncos of Lakin home.

It was a hot and humid afternoon on the diamond as the Lady Broncos scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jessica Graves pitched the first inning-and-a-half for Ellsworth and was relieved by Taylor Bunch who replaced her on the mound mid-way through the scoreless second inning.
