Kanopolis Ordinance to increase fees for collection and disposal of solid waste

BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION
8 OF ARTICLE 3 CHAPTER XV OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF KANOPOLIS AND ORDINANCE
# 07-0-03 OF THE CITY OF KANOPOLIS TO INCREASE THE FEES CHARGED FOR COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL OF SOLID WASTE IN THE CITY OF KANOPOLIS, KANSAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF KANOPOLIS, KANSAS:
Section 1. That Section 8 of Article 3 of Chapter XV of the Code of the City of Kanopolis and Ordinance # 07-0-03 of the City of Kanopolis is hereby amended to read as follows:
15-308. CHARGES FOR COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL. The City in providing the service of collection and disposal of solid waste within the City for the purpose of preventing unsightly, hazardous, unhealthy, and dangerous conditions caused by the accumulation of solid waste, shall establish and collect a service charge or fee to defray the cost and maintenance of service and to pay any person contracting with the City for the collection and disposal thereof, and the City hereby establishes the following charges as reasonable. There shall be charges assessed and collected for each single dwelling unit within the City, a monthly amount of $13.30. In the case of mobile home parks and multi dwelling units, there shall be at least one standard container for each dwelling unit. There shall be charges assessed and collected for each commercial and industrial unit within the City a monthly amount of $17.70 except for the Kanopolis Middle School which shall be $74.00 per month. In addition to the service charges or fees above established there shall be charges assessed and collected from each single dwelling unit and from each commercial and industrial unit a city administrative fee in the amount of twenty-five cents ($.25), except for the Kanopolis Middle school which shall have an administrative fee of one dollar ($1.00).
Section 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances conflicting with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication once in the Ellsworth County Independent Reporter.
