Discussion continues on Ellsworth retention pond

Members of the Ellsworth City Council Monday night authorized city administrator Scott Moore and Mayor John Whitmer to sign and file a grant application with the Kansas Department of Transportation to build a retention pond to protect downtown Ellsworth from flooding.

The action does not commit the city to construction of the pond; however, officials faced a July 7 deadline for the grant application.
