Volunteers make life safer for area residents

When Marquette Fire Chief Stan Engdahl asked Jim Unruh to join the department 15 years ago, it just seemed to make sense.

At the time, Unruh was already working as an EMT with the city’s emergency medical service, which housed its ambulance at the fire department. And Unruh lived across the alley from the station.
