Kanopolis will have a new mayor following Tuesday’s election of city council and school board members.
Newcomer Anthony Hopkins defeated Darrell Ploutz, who has served on the Kanopolis City Council for a dozen years, for the office now held by Russell Bunch, who did not seek re-election. The vote was 87 to 66.
Ploutz, who watched the outcome at the Ellsworth County Courthouse, congratulated Hopkins on his win.
