Jennifer Wagner (1986-2017)

Jennifer Wagner, 31, passed away June 3, 2017. She was born May 6, 1986 in Ellsworth to Tonya Bareé (Lutz). She married Jordan Wagner in Wilson, Kan. on July 21, 2012 and was a server/cook at Grandma’s Soda Shop in Wilson.  

Jennifer is survived by her husband, Jordan Wagner of Wilson; son, Jaxson Wagner of Wilson; mother, Tonya Gustus of Lorraine; brother, Scott Lutz of Hutchinson; brother, Cody Gustus of El Dorado; brother, Joshua Gustus of Wilson; sister, Tara Gustus of Larned; and grandparents, Georgia and Tim Boughner of Dodge City.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Lutz.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

Patricia K. Jones (1970-2017)

Patricia K. Jones, 46, of Ellsworth and formerly of Beloit, died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth.

Survivors include sons, Collin of Simpson and Devon of Wichita; parents, John and Delores Bell of Ellsworth; siblings, Pam Jamis of Wichita, Chris Bell of Beloit, Debbie Lange of Brookville, Deanna Pruitt of Ellsworth; and Tim Bell of Simpson.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday with visitation from 5 p.m. until the rosary service begins at the McDonald Funeral Home, Beloit.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit.

Memorials may be given to Kansas Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Association or the American Lung Association.

Carl E. Choitz (1943-2017)

Carl E. Choitz, 74, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 in Wilson, Kan. He was born May 19, 1943 in Ellsworth to Emil and Dora Choitz.

Carl was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County where he was a farmer, welder working at A1 welding shop, and did custom bailing. He also worked at Eschbaugh advertising in Wilson. Carl was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was baptized June 20, 1943.

He married Esther Schnepp Umbarger on Jan. 14, 1987 in Beatrice, Neb. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward, Norman, Gilbert, George, and Harry Choitz; sisters, Ruth Williams and Mabel Anschutz; and step-daughter, Theresa Mehl.

Carl is survived by step-sons, David Eckel and Stanley Umbarger; step-daughter, DeAnna Simms; special friend, Edith Schriner of Salina; brothers, Lawrence, Emil Jr., Frank, and Ralph Choitz all of Ellsworth; and many step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren.

John W. McKinney (1947-2017)

John W. McKinney, 69, passed away May 25, 2017. He was born Oct. 4, 1947 in Ellsworth, Kan. to Johnnie William and Pearl (Wright) McKinney. He married Theresa Sheridan in Bushton, Kan. on Aug. 1, 1967.

John is survived by his wife, Theresa McKinney of Salina; daughter, Shelly McKinney (David Cherry) of Salina; son, Damon McKinney (Lezlie) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Sydney Holt, Andrew Holt, Kylie McKinney, and Jace McKinney; great-grandchildren, KaMyah Holt; brother, Ronald “Butch” McKinney (Diane) of Ellsworth; and sister, Debbie Thomas of Salina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill McKinney; sister, Shirley Nienke; and brother, Michael McKinney.

Visitation is from 1-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, at Parsons Funeral Home with family present from 6-7 p.m. and a vigil/rosary service at 7 p.m.

Funeral mass is at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Ellsworth with burial following in the Carneiro Cemetery.

Mabel M. Anschutz (1927-2017)

Mabel M. Anschutz, 89, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Ellsworth. She was born Sept. 12, 1927 in Ellsworth to Emil and Dora Choitz.

A lifetime resident of Ellsworth, Mabel was a retired nurse’s aide and homemaker. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ellsworth.

Mabel married Dale H. Anschutz on Oct. 11, 1953 in Ellsworth. He survives her. She is also survived by daughter, Lois (Gilbert) Wenz of Holyrood, Kan. and their children Amy (Robert) Vibbert and Melissa (Matt) Taylor; daughter, Connie (Will) Dickinson of Ellsworth and their daughter Tiffany (Daniel) Harders; son, Alan (Kim) Anschutz of Bella Vista, Ark. and their children Travis Anschutz and Amanda (Garrett) Gittlein; son, Gale (Lisa) Anschutz of Rose Hill, Kan. and their children Savanna and Brianna Anschutz; nine great-grandchildren; and brothers, Frank, Lawrence, Emil Jr., Carl, and Ralph Choitz all of Ellsworth.

Lois L. Pruitt (1949-2017)

Lois L. Pruitt, 67, died May 20, 2017 in Lyons, Kan. She was born Nov. 16, 1949 in Ellsworth to Francis and Edith Kratzer.

She graduated from Geneseo High School and then attended airline school in Kansas City where she received certification as a reservation specialist. Lois retired as a bank teller from Lorraine State Bank. She had also worked at the Ellsworth Good Samaritan as a receptionist, El-Kan, and had operated a daycare. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities, family vacations,  gardening, mowing, cookie baking, walking and having tea with Joyce.

Lois attended the United Methodist Church of Geneseo, along with being active in their Bible study, EHU, Geneseo 55+ Club, Ladies Thanksgiving Club and American Legion Auxiliary, a 4-H leader and cookie chairman for the Girl Scouts.

David Michael Doubrava

     It is with great sadness that the family of David Michael Doubrava announces his passing after a heroic battle with cancer, on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the age of 68 years. David was born to Ernest and Nina Doubrava in Ellsworth, Kan. David will be forever remembered by his mother, Nina; wife, Linda; his children, Jeff, Ryan, and Jason; step-children, Teri, Julie, and Doug Johnson; grandchildren, Madisyn, Colin, Cameron, Emma, Lilly, Jackson, Peyton, Bella, Christian, and Brody; brothers, Alan and Mark; sister-in-law, Kristi; and numerous family and friends.   
     A celebration of life service for David will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at Parsons Funeral Home, 307 North Lincoln Avenue, Ellsworth, Kan.  
     Inurnment will follow at the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.  
     Memorials may be given to The Polodori House Hospice, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 45, Ellsworth, Kan. 67439.

Debbie Lynn Halstrom

     Debbie Lynn Halstrom, 61, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017. She was born Feb. 16, 1956, in Denver, Colo., to Bud and Wynona Halstrom. Formerly of Geneseo, Debbie was a resident of the Wilson Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson. She formerly worked at the Good Samaritan Society in Lyons and at Mosaic of Ellsworth.
     Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Terry Sr. and David Halstrom.
     There are no services planned at this time.
     Memorials can be made to Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, to assist Debbie’s sons with cremation expenses.

Stephanie Elaine (Grauer) Barta (1967-2017)

Stephanie Elaine (Grauer) Barta passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, Kansas at the age of 50. She was born on Jan. 10, 1967 in Alva, Okla. She grew up in Wilson, Kan. and graduated from Wilson High School with the Class of 1985. She went on to earn a license in cosmetology, and an associate’s degree in nursing through Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kan.

Stephanie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wilson and worked for several years as a Registered Nurse. She served as the administrator for Longfellow Corners Assisted Living in Wilson. The joy of her life was her family and friends and she loved to cook for everyone whenever she had the opportunity. She was especially famous for her bierock and kolache.

Delbert G. 'Turk' Allmon (1952-2017)

Delbert G. “Turk” Allmon, 64, passed away May 2, 2017. He was born July 16, 1952 in Denver City, Texas to Johnnie and Lois (Davis) Allmon.

Delbert was a longtime resident of Ellsworth. He worked previously as a machinist, and then worked many years for City Plumbing in Ellsworth.

Delbert is survived by his daughter, Gena Claycamp (Adam) of Edgar, Neb.; granddaughters, Ali and Jaden; mother, Lois Richards of McPherson; brother, David Allmon (Jean) of Abilene; brother, Dean Allmon (Rita) of Newton; sister, Deanna Allmon of Newton; brother, Dennis Allmon of Albuquerque, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie; infant brother, Paul; and niece, Charlotte Allmon.

Memorial service is at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 11, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with inurnment following in Ellsworth Memorial cemetery.
