Albino Munoz (1925-2016)

Albino Munoz, 91, passed away  July 8, 2016 at Cypress Springs in Wichita, Kan.
He was born May 7, 1925 in Kanopolis to Jesus and Maria (Mendez) Munoz. A lifetime resident of the Kanopolis and Ellsworth area, he married Laurita Panzer March 17, 1950 in Ellsworth.
Albino was an employee of the Independent Salt Company for 46 years. While employed there, he was in charge of the Mine Rescue Team for many years.
Albino served in the Navy during World War II. He was a life member of the American Legion and VFW in Ellsworth.
Albino is survived by his wife, Laurita; sons, Richard (Shirley) of Louisburg, Kan. and Ron of Plano, Texas; daughters, Nancy Rader (Jim) and Tammy Clarkson (Guy), both of Andover, Kan.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, also step- grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Nick and Charles of Kanopolis; sisters, Juanita Munoz of Bullhead City, Ariz. and Inez Torrez of San Francisco, Calif.

Patrick ‘Pat’ Henry Doherty (1944-2016)


Patrick (Pat) Henry Doherty, 72, passed away July 7, 2016, from pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer.
He was born Jan. 9, 1944 in Hoisington, Kan.
He is survived by his wife, Emma, of 48 years; daughter, Patresa Ebersole, and husband, Dr. Lowell Ebersole, of Wichita, Kan.; son, Patrick E. (PJ), and wife, Melissa, of Salina, Kan.; six grandchildren, Isabel, Claire, Greta and Tucker Ebersole, and Tyler and Alexis Doherty; brother, Mike Doherty (LoRita) of Lindsborg, Kan.; sister, Leona Oyster of Paola, Kan.; sister Betty Holcombe of Lindsborg, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Alice (Maloney) Doherty, three brothers and two sisters.

Virginia T. Muninger (1926-2016)


Virginia T. Muninger, 89, died July 7, 2016 in Salina.
She was born Dec. 15, 1926 in Clifton, Kan. to Frank and Thelma Harz. Virginia was a retired English and journalism teacher at Ellsworth High School. She was a member of the Kanopolis Methodist Church and UMW. In 1995 she was inducted into the Kansas Scholastic Journalism Hall of Fame in Topeka as a High School Journalism Advisor. On March 18, 1951, she married Harold A. Muninger in Salina. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 2005.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Telma Dee (Nathan) Reed of Lawrence, sons, Sheldon A. (Mary Ellen) Muninger and Eric F. Muninger, both of Salina; two grandchildren, Ryan and Alex Muninger; two great- grandchildren, William Muninger and Georgia Muninger; and a sister, Sharon Perry of Emporia.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 11, at Parsons Funeral Home, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

John Russell Peppiatt (1959-2016)

John Russell Peppiatt, 56, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, at his home near Ellsworth.
He was born Aug. 11, 1959 in Ellsworth to Fred and Vivian (Barta) Peppiatt. A lifetime resident of Ellsworth, John married Mary Miley, April 25, 1981, in Kanopolis. He was a longtime employee of Cashco, Inc. where he was a tool maker. John was an accomplished runner and enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, raising cattle, and creating habitat for the wildlife he loved.
John is survived by his wife, Mary of Ellsworth; son, Jake (Crystal) of Shawnee, Kan.; daughter, Leah Hyman (Chad) of Manhattan; grandchildren, Brynn, Jack, and Eleanore; parents, Fred and Vivian Peppiatt of Ellsworth; sisters, Valerie Janzen (Mike) of Geneseo and Nancy Hysong (George) of Ellsworth; and brother, Andrew Peppiatt (Kay) of Salina.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 27, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with family present 6-8 p.m.

Kirk Carl McCoy (1952-2016)

Kirk Carl McCoy, 64, passed away June 22, 2016 in Coldwater. He was born June 16, 1952 to Kermit Carl and Clara Elizabeth (Young) McCoy in Smith Center.
Kirk is survived by his mother, Clara McCoy of Ellsworth; brothers, Kermit McCoy of Olympia, Wash., Kerry McCoy (Gina) of Hutchinson, and Kelly McCoy of Ellsworth, Kevin McCoy of Florence; two nephews; two nieces; and one great niece. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., Monday, June 27 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m., Monday at the funeral home with burial following in the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.

Roger A. Hill (1951-2016)

Roger A. Hill, 64, passed away June 16, 2016 at Wichita.
He was born June 29, 1951 in Ellsworth to Harvey and Alice (Kral) Hill. He married Joleen Duryee Oct. 16, 1993 at Wilson. She survives. He served in the U.S. Army.
Roger is survived by his wife, Joleen Hill of Wilson; son, Jonathan of The Colony, Texas; daughter, April (Alan) Bucher, Prosper, Texas; two step-sons, Daren Kingsbury, Ellsworth, and Joshua Kingsbury, Victoria; step-daughter, Denia Lutz, Wilson; brother Mark (Debra) Hill, Wilson; sisters, Patricia (Bob) Schnur, Butler, Pa., Bonnie Buehler, Russell, Virginia (Fred) Mitchell, Great Bend, and Terry (Gerald) Soukup, Wilson; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, Harvey Jr.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, June 22 at Foster Mortuary Chapel, Wilson.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22 at the mortuary.

Hazel Bruning (1932-2016)

Hazel Bruning, 84, died June 17, 2016, at her home in Ellsworth. She was born April 15, 1932 in Ellsworth County to G.C.  and Lucina (Schwerdtfeger) Schultz. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Ellsworth and a homemaker.
On Feb. 18, 1954 she married Orval D. Bruning at St. Paul’s. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2009.
Survivors include her sons, Gary and Michael, both of Ellsworth; daughters, Donna Flannery of Shermans Dale, Pa., Nancy Bruning and Janet Bruning, both of Cody, Wyo. and Kathleen Macek of Wilson; brothers, Willis Schultz of Ellsworth and Don Schultz of Topeka; sister, Gloria Krob of Ft. Collins, Colo.; five grandchildren (Patrick, Shannon, Michael, Sean and Laura).
Her sister, Faye Herlan, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held, at 8 a.m. Monday, June 20 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Ellsworth.

Vincent Wayne Dohe (1952-2016)

Vincent Wayne Dohe, 64, passed away June 14, 2016 at his home in Lincoln County.
He was born March 20, 1952 in Ellsworth to Benjamin Walter and Dorothea Emma (Wacker) Dohe.Wayne married Dorene Gier in Sylvan Grove on April 20, 1975. He was a farmer and stockman and a clerk on the Golden Belt Township Board. He was also a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Dorene Dohe of Lincoln; daughter, Kris Stoecker (Perry) of Onaka, S.D.; son, Kurt Dohe (Ann Kralik) of Lincoln; daughter, Kayla Vague (Evan) of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Chloe Dohe, Ben and Kelli Stoecker, Valen, Clayton, Kieran, and Easton Vague, and Molly and Macy Howard; brother, Larry Dohe (Sharon) of Lincoln; and sister, Karen Dohe of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Dale and Dean Dohe; step-father, Erwin Burmeister; and niece, April Shoemaker.

Charles Donald Vopat, Sr., 79, passed away June 7, 2016 at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1937 to Catherine Ann (Foran) and John L. Vopat, Sr. in Ellsworth. He married Lucy Janda in Wilson, Kan. on Sept. 17, 1957.
A lifetime resident of Ellsworth County, Charles was a farmer, stockman, and machinist at Cashco. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson.
Charles is survived by his wife, Lucy Vopat of Wilson; daughter, Veronica Kyler (Tim) of Ellsworth; son, Charles Vopat, Jr. (Ellaine) of Ellsworth; son, Mark Vopat (Rachel Muro) of Kanopolis; daughter, Joan Johnson (Brad Kralik) of Ellsworth; daughter, Mary Ann Heard of Ellsworth; daughter Amanda Vopat (Travis Oakes) of Loveland, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John L. Vopat, Jr.; and sister, Mary Jo Cisneros.

Lawrence K. ‘Larry’ Correll (1934-2016)


Lawrence K. “Larry” Correll, 82,  passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 in Ellsworth.
 He was born June 1, 1934 in Gatewood, W.V. to Paul and Alma (Blake) Correll. Larry married Zella Bubar Sept. 5, 1955, in Clinton, Me. She survives him.
Larry and Zella recently moved to Ellsworth after many years in pastoral ministries including Christian radio, work as a pain clinic chaplain, and missionary work with NAYM/Rock Ministries. He was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance faith and attended the Harvest Bible Church, Ellsworth.
Larry is also survived by daughters, Faith Jelle (Robin) of Arizona and Beth Vallier (J. Daniel) of Ellsworth; son, Mark Correll (Wendy) of Brownsville, Ky.; sisters, Bonnie Harmon of Dayton, Ohio and Doris Vandermolen (Joe) of Union Grove, Wi.; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, along with many cousins and other relatives.
 He was preceded in death by his parents.
