Dr. Dallas Moeller D.O. (1929-2018)

Dr. Dallas Moeller D.O., 89, passed away Oct. 26, 2018 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He was born to Dr. John Moeller, D.C. and Alice Moravek Moeller Aug. 5, 1929 in Ransom, Kan.  Shortly afterward his parents moved to Wilson, Kan. where his father established his chiropractic office.
Dallas grew up in Wilson attending school and graduating with the class of 1947. His first marriage gave him a daughter, Debra Sue. He worked various jobs around Wilson and then decided to attend Fort Hays State College.
He married Esther Asher from Great Bend, Kan. in 1959. He continued on with his education graduating from Kansas City Osteopathic College in 1966. They moved to Phoenix, Ariz. After completing his residency, he established his family practice of 30 plus years.

Shirley Ann Behrens (1945-2018)

Shirley Ann Behrens (Lyne), 73, of Lincoln, Kan. passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, in Lincoln. She was born Oct. 27, 1945, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Russell and Rosaline Bertha Wilhelmine (Schultz) Lyne.
Left to celebrate her life include her husband, Elmer Behrens, of the home; sons, Tim Behrens, of Kensington, Kan., Christopher (Erin) Behrens, of Lincoln, Frank Behrens, of Lincoln, Andrew Behrens, of Lincoln; daughters, Delores (Paul) Harris, of Gypsum, Betty Behrens, of Lincoln; brother Donald Lyne, of Ellsworth; sisters, Judy (Art) Blouin, of Las Vegas, Nev., Janice (Roger) Prochaska, of Ellsworth, Joyce (Phil) Webb, of Ellsworth, Gloria (Alan) Marez, of Ellsworth, Carol (Lloyd) Kottman, of Ellsworth, Bertha Bontz, of Peoria, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
 She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Virgil Lyne; and sister, Alvina Novotny.
Services will take place at a later date.

Jim (James) Kasper (1943-2018)

Jim (James) Kasper, 75, of Olathe passed away and left his loving family on Dec. 1, 2018. He died at home, peacefully in his sleep.
He was born May 19, 1943 to James and Mary (Bouska) Kasper, who preceded him death. He grew up in Wilson, Kan., graduated from Fort Hays State University and lived for over 20 years in Hays, Kan. He lived his last several years in Olathe, Kan. Jim married Virginia L. Kasper (Waldschmidt) on April 19, 1969.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; son Brian; daughter-in-law Rose (wife of Brian); daughter Brenda; son-in-law Patrick Vento (husband of Brenda); and his grandson Jacob Vento, age 4.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Olathe. He was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, David Kasper.
The memorial mass is planned at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson, Kan. Interment to follow the service.

Evelyn K. Gourley (1936-2018)

Evelyn K. Gourley, 82, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 in Salina. She was born Jan. 14, 1936 in Ellsworth to Cristie and Mary (Lundgrin) Naegele.
Evelyn was a lifetime resident of the Ellsworth and Kanopolis areas where she was a bank teller at Kanopolis State Bank and later First Bank Kansas. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in the class of 1954 and was a member of the Kanopolis Sunflower Civic Club. She married Earl D. Gourley, Jr. Dec. 25, 1956 in Lincoln. He preceded her in death in 2016.

Clara Marie Seyfert (1928-2018)

Clara Marie Seyfert, 89, passed away on Nov. 27, 2018, at Kenwood Plaza, St. John.  
She was born on Dec. 6, 1928, in Russell County, to Carl and Emma (Galliart) Friebus. Clara married Alvin Seyfert on March 24, 1953 at Wilson. He died Nov. 25, 1998.
Growing up in Wilson, Clara had been a long-time resident of Hunter.  She had also previously resided in Ellinwood, Coldwater, and St. John.  Clara was a devoted mother, farm wife and homemaker, and enjoyed playing cards and dominoes.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Billinger and husband Steve, of Wilson, Karen Rabenseifner and husband Ed, of St. John and Donna Seyfert and significant other, David Beatty of St. John; grandchildren, Laura Griffiths of Hunter, Roger Gier and Shanna of Ellsworth, Ryan Gier and Sara of Sylvan Grove, Lisa Gier of Lincoln, Rebecca Larsen and Mike of Great Bend, Tim Naw and Amanda of Great Bend and BJ Bowyer of Great Bend; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Curtis David Nelson (1951-2018)

Curtis David Nelson, 67, died Nov. 25, 2018, at his home in Ellsworth. He was born Aug. 12, 1951, in Wichita, Kan., the son of John A. and Virginia L. (Wickert) Nelson. 
Curtis graduated in 1969 from Shawnee Mission South High School and then received his Associate Degree from Barton County Community College in 1991.
A resident of Ellsworth since his retirement, Curtis worked as a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections in Ellsworth for 25 years.
He lived most of his life in Claflin, where he was the former mayor and a member of the city council. He was also a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.
On May 10, 1985, he married Jan R. Lupton in Great Bend, Kan.  She preceded him in death on Nov. 12, 2016.

Marjorie A. Kempke (1939-2018)

Marjorie A. Kempke, 78, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 in Salina. She was born Dec. 29, 1939 in Ellsworth to Carl and Christina (Schepmann) Eilrich.

She was a lifelong resident of Ellsworth County where she was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ellsworth and a library aide at Kanopolis Middle School. She married Richard J. Kempke, Jr. in Hutchinson on Jan. 3, 1958. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Marjorie is survived by her sons, Rodney Kempke (Janet) of Ellsworth, Rick Kempke of Ellsworth, and Randy Kempke of Kanopolis; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Harold, Harry, and Harvey “Babe” Eilrich; and sister, Irene Choate.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with family present 6-8 p.m. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth with burial following at Kanopolis Cemetery.M

Larry Dean Boye (1932-2018)

Larry Dean Boye, ‘LB’, 86, of Arvada, Colo. passed from this earth Oct. 19, 2018, after a lifetime of beautiful music as an educator. Larry was born Feb.24, 1932 in Ellsworth, Kan. to Clarence Boye and Anna (Adamek) Boye and was raised outside Holyrood, Kan.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Tammy Derloshon (Castle Rock, Colo.); son, J.D. Boye and daughter-in-law Kathy (Aurora, Colo.); five grandchildren, Andi, Chris, Jillian, Lauren, and Makenna; and upwards of a thousand former students who remember ‘LB’ fondly.
He was twice divorced. He was preceded in death by Sue Jean (Snyder) Boye, his wife of 30 years, and is survived by Pamela Hoopingarner Boye, his wife of 18 years.
The service was Friday, Oct. 26, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Colo. Graveside service was Saturday, Oct. 27, at the St Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Holyrood. Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, Wheat Ridge, Colo., was in charge of arrangements.
