Eugene 'Gene' D. Schwemmer (1933-2018)

Eugene “Gene” D. Schwemmer, 85, passed away in Salina, Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born June 6, 1933 in Hunter to David and Mae (Donley) Schwemmer.
Gene married Carol Sheridan in Ellsworth June 9, 1957. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485.
Gene worked as a shift supervisor at Enron for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a volunteer firefighter on the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Kiwanis.
Gene is survived by his wife, Carol of Ellsworth; daughters, Debbie Rojas (Genaro) of Ellsworth and Sherri Shippy (Merlin) of Assaria; grandchildren, Lindsey Hlad (Kyle), Marissa Karp (Weston), Mo Rojas, and Brandon Shippy (Rashae); great grandchildren, Kenley Rojas, Sawyer Karp, Everly Rojas, Shiana Shippy, and Delilah Shippy; and sister, Karen Horner (Maury) of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Edith Ellen Haase Hysell Reed (1926-2018)

Edith Ellen Haase Hysell Reed, 92, of Amarillo, Texas, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Texas.
Edith was born July 4, 1926, in Ellsworth, Kan. to Otto F. and Anna C. Haase. She grew up in the Lutheran church.
Edith was a good cook, loved to play cards with friends, and read.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Reed; her father, Otto; her mother, Anna; a brother, Otto Jr.; a daughter, Dannette; a sister-in-law, Marva; and a brother-in-law, Bill Ranker.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Linton-Teague, of Amarillo, and Rollaine Carlson (Chris), also of Amarillo; a son-in-law, Dean Foster, of Topeka, Kan.; grandchildren, Troy, Gary, Andrew (Monica), and Aimee; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Braydee, and Jace; and a sister, Della Ranker.

Douglas G. Bach (1952-2018)

Douglas G. Bach, 66, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 in Salina. He was born April 27, 1952 in Clay Center to Frank and Helen (Thorson) Bach.
Douglas was a longtime resident of Ellsworth where he worked for Cashco, Inc. for over 35 years, holding many positions, most recently as the technical writer. Douglas married Debby Loesch in Raymond Aug. 18, 1973.
Douglas was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was very active, singing in the choir and serving as a Deacon, Elder, and chairman of many committees. He was a member of the JH Robbins Memorial Library board from 1987 to 1996, serving as president from 1990 to 1995, overseeing the completion of the library renovation and addition. He also served the Ellsworth County selective service for 20 years.

Patty Lou (Premore) Ouellette (1932-2018)

Patty Lou (Predmore) Ouellette, age 86, entered into rest Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at the Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, Kan. She was born Sept. 30, 1932 in Aurora, Kan. to Carl and Reeta (Camp) Predmore.
Patty married Alamore H. Ouellette Nov. 28, 1953 at Concordia. He preceded her in death March 14, 1999.
She was a 1950 graduate of Concordia High School.  
Patty received her Registered Nurses degree from Marymount College in Salina, Kan. She was a ER nurse at the St. Joseph Hospital for over 30 years retiring in 1995. They also had a family farm located six miles south of Ames, where they raised their family.
She was a past member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Aurora, St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph, Kansas and a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde. Patty was also a member of the Altar Society, Red Hat society, Bible study group, and Possum Hollow CB Club.

Mona Carol Raney Busick (1938-2018)

Mona Raney Busick, 79, passed away Sept. 6, 2018 in Riverside, Calif.
She was born in Ellsworth, Kan. Dec. 1, 1938 to Kenneth and Ruth (Grubb) Raney.
Mona graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1956. Upon graduation, she moved to California where to she worked at Disneyland, CitiBank and was manager of Alpha Beta Grocery.
While in California, she met and married Robert Busick.
Mona is survived by sons, Kenneth Busick of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Dr. Mitchell Busick (Quinn) of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Patricia Kay Smith (Chris) of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Bobbi Lynn Busick of Bloomington, Calif.; six grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Jack of Ellsworth, Kan., and Clair of Titusville, Fla.
After her children were grown, she dusted off her college books and completed her college degree.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; brothers, Bud and Kay; and sister, Joan.

Annetta F. Kyler (1935-2018)

  Annetta F. Kyler, 83, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 in Ellsworth.
She was born Jan. 27, 1935 in Ellsworth County to Joe and Ruth (Bailey) Dolezal. Annetta was a lifetime resident of the Ellsworth and Kanopolis area where she worked as a tool crib operator at Cashco, Inc. of Ellsworth and was a member of the St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Kanopolis. She married Ronald L. Kyler on July 17, 1954 in Ellsworth. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Annetta is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Couch of Ellsworth; sons, Ronald “Bud” Kyler (Theresa) of Ellsworth, Tim Kyler (Veronica) of Ellsworth, Edward Kyler (Dolores) of Ellsworth, Perry Kyler (Angie) of Spring Valley, Calif., and Pat Kyler (Linda) of Kanopolis; 21 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; and brother, Lloyd Dolezal (Fern) of Salina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; grandson, Michael Tripp Kyler; brother, Edward Dolezal; sister, Elsie Brown; and son-in-law, Dean Couch.

Max Evan Little (1932-2018)

Max Evan Little left this earthly world Aug. 18, 2018, at the age of 86 to join his Lord and other family members in heaven.

Max was born Feb. 26, 1932, near Westfall, Kan. to Arch and Aneita (Keller) Little. He grew up on the family farm with his seven brothers and sisters. Max married Joan Lee Lloyd in August, 1953. They lived in Colorado, raising their four children there.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Sherilynn Sue (Terri) Chapin, Terri Lee Thomas, Sandra Kae Beckmann and Jeffrey Scott (Caren) Little; sister, Lola Brown; brother, Don Little; sisters-in-law, Beula and Kathryn Little; and brother-in-law William (Bill) Lloyd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beryl Katzenmeier and husband, Amos, Eunice Brady and husband Dwight; brothers, Lowell Little, Jack Little and wife Carol, Sammy Little; and brother-in-law, Wilmer Brown.

Loren C. Richard (1919-2018)

Loren C. Richard, 99, Ellsworth, was called to his eternal home on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018.
Born on March 28, 1919, he was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County. Loren, a retired farmer and stockman, was actively involved in his church and community.
He is survived by his three children, Dru (Candy) Richard, Debby Oestmann, and Cindy (Jim) Lamia. He is also survived by eight grandsons, 12 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Helen Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Drucilla; his parents, William and Dorothy Richard (Headley); sister, Elda Ostermann; and son-in-law, Vern Oestmann.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth
A funeral service celebrating his resurrected life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Harold Delbert Wheeler (1944-2018)

Harold Delbert Wheeler, 73, Kanopolis, passed away Sept. 15, 2018 in Salina.
He was born Nov. 21, 1944 in Great Bend, Kan. He married Barbara Ann Whinery in Cherryvale, Kan. on Dec. 16, 1963.
Harold worked as a foreman for Acme Brick for 37 years and in maintenance for the TK Company in Ellsworth. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Hunters’ Safety, coached baseball from pee wee to American Legion, Kids’ Federation wrestling coach, women’s softball coach, and was a Mosaic volunteer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a diehard Nebraska Cornhusker football fan.
