Christine Dolechek Medical Scholarship Trust Fund

CHRISTINE DOLECHEK
MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST FUND

This trust fund provides substantial scholarships for students who are legal residents of Ellsworth County in any field of human medicine that is licensed by the State of Kansas. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Doctors, dentists, nurses, medical technicians and optometrists.
b. Support fields, which include medical research.
c. Emergency Medical Technicians and paramedical services.

Applications must be submitted to the Citizens State Bank & Trust Co., Trust Department, P.O. Box 128, Ellsworth, KS 67439-0128 by April 1, 2017. Recipients will be advised of this award by May 1, 2017. The Scholarship Committee may request a personal interview and/or financial information before selection is completed.

Ellsworth County Proclamation Supporting Radon Action Month

PROCLAMATION

SUPPORTING RADON ACTION MONTH

WHEREAS, radon is a colorless, odorless, naturally occurring radioactive gas that threatens the health of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. It is the number one cause among non-smokers; and
WHEREAS, 57% of all Radon Test conducted in Ellsworth County has an elevated radon level; and Ellsworth County currently has the highest recorded Radon Reading in the State of Kansas.
WHEREAS, any home in Ellsworth County may have an elevated level of radon, even if other homes in the same neighborhood do not; and
WHEREAS, testing for radon is simple and inexpensive; and
WHEREAS, identified radon problems can be fixed; and

Ellsworth Ordinance Amending Charter Ordinance for Elections

ORDINANCE NO.    23

BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHARTER
ORDINANCE NO. 22 RELATING TO ELECTIONS
OF THE CITY OF ELLSWORTH, KANSAS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ELLSWORTH, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. That a new Section 9 be added to Charter Ordinance No. 22 stating the following:
    Section 9 — All elections for the City of Ellsworth,         Kansas shall be nonpartisan.  
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances conflicting with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby expressly repealed.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage by the Governing Body of the City of Ellsworth and publication in the official city newspaper.
Passed by the Governing Body of the City of Ellsworth this 27th day of December, 2016.
