Katie Nelson and Jacob Froese, both of Dardanelle, Ark., are pleased to announce their engagement.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Greg and Jean Nelson, Springdale, Ark. She is employed as a physical therapist for Peds Plus.

The groom-to-be is the son of Teresa and Steve Sneath, rural Kanopolis, and Jerry and Angie Froese, Ellsworth. He is employed by Peds Plus.

An Oct. 6, 2018 wedding is planned at Fayetteville, Ark.

Adameks celebrating 55 years together

Larry and Sharen Adamek will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary May 18, 2018.

Larry and Sharen were married at St. Wenceslaus Catholic church in Wilson. Larry, a retired farmer, also worked as a service technician for Erhardt Furniture & Appliance, as well as Sipps Furniture for 40 years. Afterwards Larry and Sharen opened Larry’s Appliance Service, which they owned and operated for four years until semi-retiring.

Presently Larry spends his time at his farm; he is an active member of the Ellsworth EAA Chapter #1127, where he enjoys leisure flying and volunteering. Sharen worked as a receptionist for St. Bernard’s Catholic Church for 11 years. She enjoys her garden, volunteering and trips to Kansas City. They enjoy their bus trips and traveling to the surprise destinations.

Both are lifelong residents of Ellsworth County. They have a daughter, Cindy Rives and a grandson, Caden Rives of Kansas City, Mo.

Megan and Joshua Asbury, St. George, Kan., are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Evelinn Aileen Asbury.

Evelinn was born March 12, 2018, weighing 8 pounds, 13 ounces and was 21 inches long.

She is welcomed home by her siblings, Rosin Dean Edwin Asbury and Devlin Ross Asbury.

Maternal grandparents are Rodney and Mary Buchholz, Ellsworth.

Paternal grandparents are Ed and Bonnie Asbury, Wamego, Kan., and Linda Asbury, Westmoreland, Kan.

Maternal great-grandparents are Harold and Joyce Krog (deceased), and Lois Jean Buchholz, Ellsworth.

Paternal great-grandparents are Aileen and Cleo Asbury, and Louisa and Clarence Ross, all deceased.

Janzens to celebrate 65th with card shower

Leon and Mildred Janzen of Ellsworth will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary May 2.

Leon Janzen and Mildred Schindler were married in 1953 at the First Baptist Church of Lorraine. Leon is a retired farmer and Mildred worked for 30 years at the Lorraine State Bank.

Their family is requesting a card shower to help them celebrate this milestone. The Janzen children and their spouses are: Karen and J.V. Van Allen of Kansas City, Kenton and Angie Janzen of Lorraine, Susan and Mitch Nickerson of Grand Island, Neb., and Galen Janzen of Lorraine.

Russell and Jamie Weibert of Gypsum announce the engagement of their daughter, Callie, to Jake Kubick, son of Robert and Patti Kubick of Ellsworth.

The bride-elect graduated in 2011 from Smoky Valley High School, Lindsborg, and in 2015 from Kansas State University. She is a student at the state university of veterinary medicine and expects to earn her doctorate in 2019.

The future bridegroom is a 2011 graduate of Ellsworth High School and a 2015 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in animal science. He works at Kubick Farm and Ranch.

The wedding is set for May 5 at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Lindsborg.

Jeremiah was born at 10:40 a.m. March 9. He weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces and was 21 inches long.

He is welcomed by big brother JL Wright.
