Maternal great-grandparents are Phil and Joyce Webb of Ellsworth, and Lucky and Kerry Martin of Parker, Colo.

Paternal grandparents are Ryan and Barbie Laymon of Lyons.

Paternal great-grandparents are Jody Laymon of Hutchinson and the late Don and Alpha Taylor, who lived at Hutchinson.

Abel was born Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2018, at Salina. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Abel was welcomed home by siblings, Henri and John Ranker.

Bill Weber celebrating 90th birthday

Birthday

Bill Weber, Holyrood, will celebrate his 90th birthday Dec. 5. He was born Dec. 5, 1928 in Springfield, Mo. and taught music at Ellsworth Elementary School for 23 years.

Bill married Lois Eggers May 28, 1952, in Holyrood. They have two sons, David and wife, Debbie, who lives on the family farm, and Tim and wife, Connie, Bushton. They have six grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.

H.E. 'Gene' Brownback of Ellsworth will celebrate his 90th birthday Nov. 22. Gene was born Nov. 22, 1928 in Linn County, Kan. to J.L. and Sylvia Brownback. Gene retired as a conductor from the Union Pacific Railroad after a long and enjoyable career. He is a Navy veteran, member of the Baptist Church, the American Legion, Elks and the Masonic Lodges. He plans to celebrate with his wife, Ellen, of 67 years at a family dinner hosted by son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Cheryl Brownback. Others attending are son, Steve and Patti Brownback, Overland Park; grandsons, Jeff (Susie) Brownback, Wichita, Doug (Michelle) Brownback, Pierre, S.D., Thomas (Kate) Brownback, Washington D.C.; granddaughter, Sara (Neil) Wortman, Dallas; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Nathan Wortman, J.P. and Luke, Olivia and Everly and Owen Brownback; sister, Kathy Kinder, Kansas City, Mo.; Lynn, Darlene and Nick Wobker, Osawatomie.

Homolkas celebrating 50 years with a reception

James and Marilyn Homolka of Ellsworth, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Ellsworth Golf Course, 900 E. Second St., Ellsworth.

James and Marilyn (Lank) were married Nov. 9, 1968 in the Immanual Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. James served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966.

The Homolkas have a son, Ryan and his wife, Michelle. James and Marilyn especially enjoy their grandchildren, Sumner and Sophia.

James retired from CAV Aerospace in Salina and Marilyn retired from the Citizens State Bank and Trust Co. after 43 years of banking. They manage Homolka Grain & Supply in Ellsworth.
