Kenneth Wayne Parks (1932-2018)

Kenneth Wayne Parks, 85, passed away Friday May 25, 2018, at Hays Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1932, at Miller, Kan. the son of James and Elnora (Goldsmith) Parks.

Kenneth was a resident of Holyrood. He was graduated from Holyrood High School and earned a bachelors and master’s degrees from Fort Hays State University, and numerous certificates in science and education throughout his 34-year career. Kenneth was a science teacher and administrator in Utica, Larned, Esbon, Montezuma, and Holyrood, culminating in his position with USD 328 and retirement in 1994.

Kenneth served his country honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean War as a jet mechanic. He was a member of St Paul’s United Church of Christ in Holyrood, past Master of Masonic Lodge 424, Claflin (Scottish Rite Salina), Shrine Club of Salina and Russell, Order of the Eastern Star, Lyons. Kenneth married Cecelia Tokoi, Aug. 11, 1956 in Hays. She preceded him in death Sept. 12, 1997.

Dolores A. Bell

     Funeral services for Dolores A. Bell, 73, Ellsworth, and formerly of Beloit, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit. Mrs. Bell died Friday, May 11, 2018, at her home.
     Survivors include her husband, John, of the home; children, Pam Jamis of Wichita, Chris Bell of Simpson, Debbie Lange of Brookville, Deanna Pruitt of Ellsworth, and Tim Bell of Simpson; siblings, Marilyn Schmidt of Berryton, Bill Lorson of Elmo, Joyce Wagner of Brookville and Steve Lorson of Salina.
     A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Roberts Family Funeral Home in Beloit, with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the rosary service.
     Memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Home Health of Ellsworth or the Mt. Joseph Senior Village Activity Fund of Concordia.
     Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Norma Ruth Atchison

Norma Ruth Atchison, 91, passed away May 5, 2018. She was born Oct. 18, 1926 in Frankclay, Mo. to Frank and Daisy (LeGrand) Anderson.

Norma spent most of her working years in Ohio and Arizona as a beautician. She then moved back to Kansas after retirement. She married Richard Reisdorf who preceded her in death in 1981 and Kenny Atchison who preceded her in death in 2015.   

Norma is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Reisdorf) Demont and her husband Jerry of Omaha, Neb.; stepson, Melvin Usher of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Nina Doubrava of Ellsworth; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Richard and Kenny; and three brothers, Frank, Paul, and James.

Visitation is from 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.

The funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the funeral home with burial following in the Kanopolis Cemetery.

A. Wade Howell

     A Celebration of Life for A. Wade Howell, 61, of Tyler Texas, formerly of Salina and Lincoln, will be conducted at noon Saturday, May 26, at Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural Lincoln, Kan.
     Wade passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017 in Tyler. He was cremated.
     Wade was born Jan. 1, 1956 in Lincoln, Kan. to Art and Eula Mae (Rathbun) Howell.  
     He is survived by his wife, Janine, of Tyler, Texas; father, Art of Brookville; brother Dan (Marci) of Lincoln; and his children, Dusty of Salina, Nikki (Clayton) Haas of Ellsworth, Whit (Ariel) Divilbiss of North Carolina, Court (Jamie) Allmond of Salina, Katie (Jason) McWilliams of Ellsworth, and KaiCee (Dustin) Wilson of Texas, 21 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter.
     He was preceded in death by his mother, grandmothers, and his brother, Jeff.  
     Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
