In addition to honoring our veterans, Memorial Day weekend was also a time for class reunions at Ellsworth and Wilson. The 70th reunion of the EHS Class of 1946 was Saturday at Hoeger Chapel at the Good Samaritan Village. Nine members of the original class of 42 graduates attended and shared stories and companionship.

Club News

Elkhorn 4-H Club The May 23 meeting of the Elkhorn Club was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by president Jenna Haase. The Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge were led by Jenna. Roll call was taken by answering, "Where are you going on summer vacation?" The minutes of the April meeting were read by Nicole Haase and approved.

Nicole Whitmer and Mark Cunningham II, both of Ellsworth, were united in marriage at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Salina. Fr. Keith Weber officiated. Parents of the bride are John and Rita Whitmer, Ellsworth. Parents of the groom are Malinda Cunningham, Ellsworth, and the late Mark Cunningham.

Kepka-Vinardi Engagement

Elizabeth Rose Kepka and Kyle James Vinardi, both of Pittsburg, Kan., announce their engagement and approaching marriage.
Elizabeth is the daughter of Richard and Juanita Kepka, Ellsworth. Kyle is the son of Sandy Vinardi, Pittsburg, and Don and Debbie Vinardi, Girard.
Grandparents are the late Richard J. Kepka and Marion Kepka, the late Jack and Evelyn Daugherty, Betty and Harry Brunk, Pittsburg and the late Mike and Kay Vinardi.
Elizabeth is a 2009 graduate of Ellsworth High School, a 2013 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in social work, and a 2016 graduate of the University of Kansas with a Masters Degree in social work. She is employed with KVC, Pittsburg, as a permanency supervisor.

Matt and Elizabeth Lansdowne of McPherson announce the birth of their son, Jace Matthew Lansdowne at Newton Medical Center, Newton.

He was born at 8:55 p.m. April 9, 2016, weighing 8 lbs. and 2 ozs. and was 21 ½ inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Janet Splitter Lorraine, and the late Melvin Splitter. Paternal grandparents are David and Kathy Lansdowne, Hutchinson.

Paternal great-grandparents are Margaret Lansdowne and Ken and Maxine Burkhard, Manhattan.
