4-H Junior Leaders to raise money for Ellsworth County Cancer Fund

The Ellsworth County 4-H Junior Leaders will be raising “DOUGH” for the Ellsworth County Cancer Fund from 5-8 p.m. May 24 at the Ellsworth Pizza Hut. The Junior Leaders have chosen this community service as one of their projects this year. Many of the club member’s families or friends have been touched by cancer.

VFW recognizes City of Ellsworth, others for work

The City of Ellsworth was named the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485 Citizen of the Year during a ceremony Saturday afternoon at the VFW building in Ellsworth. “They constantly help us and they stand behind us,” said Ellsworth VFW Commander Doug Stefek.

Ethan Haase, a senior at Ellsworth Junior/Senior High School, has been chosen to receive a Good Citizen scholarship from the Smoky Hill chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. Ethan was recognized at the organization’s annual tea April 17 at Ellsworth’s First Presbyterian Church.
