Up, up and away with Ellsworth’s Young Eagles

The Smoky Hill Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) Chapter 1127 will conduct a Young Eagle Day Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Ellsworth Airport. Registration for flights begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Young people ages 8 to 17 are welcome to experience a demonstration flight in an airplane. The flights are provided free of charge to any youth wishing to participate.

Think Christmas with Jingle Bell Shop and Sell

Choosing Christmas gifts can be a tricky task. Members of the Ellsworth County Medical Center Auxiliary want to help with the yearly hunt for the perfect gift. The organization’s fifth annual Jingle Bell Shop and Sell will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, in the ECMC Administration Building, north of the hospital.

Ghosts and Goblins

Witches, sharks and more parade Monday night to the Lions Club Park from the Midland Railroad Hotel for an evening of fun and frights during the Wilson Halloween Festival sponsored by the Wilson Chamber of Commerce. At the top are a few of the participants in the Ellsworth Kiwanis Club’s annual Halloween bash at the elementary school.

Halloween fun filled the air Saturday at downtown Marquette’s Autumn in the Valley. Washington Street — mostly shut off from its normal motor traffic — was alive with ghosts and goblins and other holiday trick-or-treaters.

Hearings set in two local cases

Autumn in the Valley will offer activities galore

Autumn in the Valley is this Saturday, Oct. 29. The fun starts at 10 a.m. with the Protect Your Pumpkin Fun Run with the run starting in front of the Kansas Motorcycle Museum. Funds raised will go to the Team Jack Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer research. At 10 a.m., the “Taste of Marquette” bake sale, will be conducted at the Marquette Senior Center.
