New York City’s Carnegie Hall has provided a stage for iconic performers such as Isaac Stern, Louis Armstrong and Judy Garland.

In February, Ellsworth High School senior Natalie Soukup will have something in common with them when she sings with the Honors Choral Performance All Women’s Choir at the famed venue.

The honor is a great accomplishment and for Natalie Soukup, “a dream come true.”

Three sisters remember a brother

Editor’s Note — We received the following e-mail from Sharen Resendes: Having grown up on a farm outside of Marquette and a 1963 graduate of Marquette High School, I am proud to continue to call Marquette “My Hometown.” I have subscribed to the Marquette Tribune over all these years and enjoy reading about Marquette. I thought perhaps it would be of interest to some who still remember the Atkinson family to read about the Atkinson girls latest gathering.

Milo harvest is bin buster

By Mark McCoy

The combines, grain carts and trucks continue to roll across Ellsworth County as the 2016 fall harvest gears down. “It’s going slow,” Ellsworth Coop general manager Larry Sheridan said Tuesday morning. “We are probably about 95 percent done. Not everyone started all at once this year. Some have it all wrapped up, others are in the process of cutting and some haven’t even started yet.”

COLUMN OF FIRE

Members of the Ellsworth Fire Department knock down a blaze Friday at the home of Dave Koralek, 8 miles southeast of town. The fire, which started when a lawn mower backfired and caught nearby dry grass on fire, destroyed most of a shelter belt and fencing east of the Koralek home.

Honor and Respect

It was a relationship that started in 2002 outside Ellsworth’s First Presbyterian Church and eventually landed overseas at Normandy. This past spring, Lt. Col. Jim Hathaway traveled to France with the ashes of Tommy and Chris Zouzas. His mission — to scatter the ashes at Normandy in honor of Tommy, whose military career followed the major European campaigns of World War II.
