Visitors leave with ‘overwhelming positive impression’ of Ellsworth

Ellsworth appears to be a neat, well-kept town with nice parks, little or no visible trash and a downtown in good repair. That was the first “five-minute” impression of a team of visitors from Phillipsburg, a community similar in size to Ellsworth in northern Kansas, along U.S. Highway 36.

Splish Splash. July is ‘learn to swim’ month

The Marquette City pool during the month of July was packed full of swimming lessons with busy instructors and staff keeping a watchful eye on everyone’s safety. Swimming lessons were conducted throughout the month. Level 1–A: Julie Stropes, Sydney Sauer, Adriana pretty, Elsie Ewertt, Sutton Paden.

Ellsworth pilot in stable condition after plane crash

A 51 year-old Ellsworth man, Brad Fitchett, is listed in stable condition in the surgical intensive care unit Friday morning at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita after the crop dusting airplane he was flying crashed Thursday afternoon in a field south of Bushton. The sixth annual Coed Mud Volleyball Tournament and Duck Races sponsored by Marquette Recreation, was Saturday, Aug. 13, at Marquette’s Wolverine Sports Complex. Much appreciation goes to Piping Tech for digging the hole so this event could take place.
