Oilers remain unbeaten

CLAFLIN — The Central Plains Oilers added Little River to their list of victims Friday with a 52-6 victory over the Redskins in Claflin. Central Plains got on the scoreboard first with a 3-yard pass from quarterback Devin Ryan to Brett Liebl at the 9:01 mark of the first quarter. The PAT points gave the Oilers an 8-0 lead.

‘Cats win homecoming

The Ellsworth Bearcats manhandled North Central Activities Association rival Minneapolis 49-12, in a Homecoming win Friday at Shanelec Field in Ellsworth. It was a perfect evening for football as the game began and the Bearcats, once they gained possession of the ball, marched downfield and scored on a Zak Schneider 1-yard run to take a 6-0 lead with 7:49 on the clock.

Lady Oilers, Ellsworth tennis send girls to State

WAKEENEY — Central Plains’ undefeated and defending 3A-2A-1A champion doubles team of Keeley Hipp and Janae Ryan won their second consecutive Regional championship at the Trego Community Regional tournament Saturday in WaKeeney. Central Plains clinched the team title with 14 points, beating out Victoria who scored 13. Ellsworth also competed and placed fifth with five points.

Oilers punish Canton-Galva 50-0

CLAFLIN — The Central Plains Oilers physically punished the Canton-Galva Eagles, 50-0, Friday in a Homecoming victory at Claflin. The game was called at the halftime whistle. In 8-man football, the game is declared over when a team scores a total of 45 points over its opponent by the end of the first half or reaches that mark in the following quarters.

Lady O’s ranked fourth

GREAT BEND — The undefeated and defending 3A-2A-1A champion doubles team of Keeley Hipp and Janae Ryan won the Great Bend Invitational (hosted by Central Plains) Sept. 29 in Great Bend. As a team, the Lady O’s placed first with 35 points. Sterling placed second with 29; Lyons placed third with 14; Ellinwood placed fourth with 10 and St. John placed fifth win nine.

Lady ‘Cats win seventh NCAA title

RUSSELL — The Lady Bearcat tennis team clinched its seventh consecutive North Central Activities Association league title Saturday in Russell. The Lady ‘Cats seemed to be jinxed as they lost number one singles player Gentry Hawks to a season-ending injury at the Sept. 28 round robin in Ellsworth. Ellsworth lost Hawks’ replacement, Jaide Talbott, the following day, also to a season-ending injury.

SALINA --- The Ellsworth Bearcats massacred  the Knights of Sacred Heart 55-7 in Salina, spoiling the Knights’ Homecoming.

 

CLAFLIN --- The Central Plains Oilers literally punished the Canton-Galva Eagles 50-0 in a Homecoming win in Claflin.
