Fair supporters deserve congratulations Dear Editor, Another Ellsworth Co. 4-H Fair has come and gone. I would like to congratulate all of the Midway- Ellsworth 4-H members on the hard work they put into the exhibits that were showcased at the fair. The exhibit building was full of By BY Mark mccoy Ellsworth County I-R Twenty two-man teams competed in the annual Senior Men’s Golf League’s scramble  July 17 at the Ellsworth GolfCourse. The teams played nine holes of a scramble format and nine holes using the “best ball” format. Players are handicapped by the combined age of the teams.

Ultimate Frisbee debuts at Czech Fest

I would like to congratulate all of the Midway- Ellsworth 4-H members on the hard work they put into the exhibits that were showcased at the fair. The exhibit building was full of By BY Shirley cox-Schroeder Special to the I-R WILSON — This year’s Czech Fest was full of food, and entertainment, but nothing quite compared to the Ultimate Frisbee Contest Friday evening. So what is Ultimate Frisbee? Is it designing a newtake on the old product? Ultimate Frisbee is an international sport, even recognized by the International Olympic Association. The Wall Street Journal states “Ultimate Frisbee combines speed, grace and powerful hurling with a grueling pace.” When the idea of holding this type of event came up for Czech Fest, not many rose to the occasion. Ashlyn Weinhold, a senior at Wilson High School, took up the challenge and organized the event.

The exhibit building was full of By BY Mark mccoy Ellsworth County I-R WILSON — Forty-two runners competed for medals and prizes in the annual Czech-Fest 5k Run-2K Walk Saturday, with 13 people participatingin the walk for a total of 55 competitors.  The running gods smiled upon the participants, as overcast skies and a cool breeze forestalled the forecasted hot and muggy weather.
