Schultz is tops in nation

For the I-R

Ellsworth agent is among farm and ranch elite.

The huge impact of $$$

By Norman Ornstein

The spectacular crash of the Jeb! Bush campaign — an early dropout after his super PAC raised and spent a historically high amount — has led to a chorus of voices noting that money must not mean much in politics if you can spend more than $100 million and fail to win a single primary or caucus. How bad do things have to be to get librarians to march on Topeka

You know it’s going to be a bad day when you’re met at work by dozens of librarians angry about something you’ve done. That’s exactly what happened this past week to members of the Kansas House of Representatives. The librarians joined with officials from small governing bodies to express their displeasure for proposed legislation that would require city, county and voter approval for changes in property tax levies or for the issuance of bonds.

Cemetery Results

Article Image Alt Text

By Jennifer McDaniel

When former Mayor Allan Lindfors and other cemetery officials began overhauling regulations governing Marquette cemeteries a few years ago, he did so with the hope of bringing uniformity and dignity to the final resting of place of so many local residents. And nearly a year after those rules were put in place, Lindfors is pleased with what he has been able to accomplish so far as he continues working on ways to improve the community’s local cemeteries.
