It may look as if the winter weather is gone for good, but state climatologist Mary Knapp says we shouldn’t be too surprised to see another snow flurry or two before the end of April. When it comes to Kansas weather, Knapp knows better than to deal in certainties. Even though another snowfall still lurks around every corner, it doesn’t seem like Ellsworth County experienced much of a winter. “Winter time is really never a time when we get very much moisture anyway,” Knapp said. “But during April through September we get over 70 percent of the year’s moisture.” Ellsworth County received only .34-inch of moisture during March, bringing its year-to-date total to 1.63 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
