Lady 0’s three-peat

Article Image Alt Text

BY Mark McCoy

MANHATTAN — The undefeated, top-ranked and two-time defending champion 2A Lady Oilers won a third consecutive State 2A championship with a 62-41 defeat of a good Olpe Lady Eagle team Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum on the campus of Kansas State University, in Manhattan. The Lady Eagles entered the tournament as the third seed with a 23-0 record and are coached by Jesse Nelson — who holds the best win-loss record in the state. The Lady Eagles have a lot of height, handle the ball well and are a young team, with only two seniors on the squad. All the Lady Eagles hit the hardwood wearing kneepads — and are adept at going after the ball.
